January has sent wildfires through Texas. On Monday, a 2,500 acre fire broke out due to downed power lines in Parker County, forcing North Texas schools and homes to evacuate. Interstates 20 and 30 were closed down for several hours. Other smaller grassfires burned nearby as well.
Southern and Central Plains should seek caution as strong winds and warmer temperatures roll in tomorrow. The combination of dry brush, warmth, dry air and strong winds will worsen current fires and increase the chances to spark new wildfires.
Be aware and alert of fire danger in the Southern and Central Plain states tomorrow and tomorrow night.
As strong winds blow, expect delays across the Plains to the Great Lakes. Winds will affect your daily routine, power outages, broken tree limbs, and minor property damage. There’s also the possibility of trucks flipping over on highways and the amount of flights will be decreased, particularly in Kansas City and St. Louis, Missouri, Chicago, Indianapolis, Milwaukee and eventually Detroit.
