Americans continue to be swarmed by snow and cold here in the U.S with Winter Storm Liam and Winter Storm Mateo. As athletes from around the world gather in South Korea for the Winter Olympics, frigid temperatures cause concern for the big show starting tomorrow. With temperatures in the single digits this week, the Olympics are seeing a different outcome from previous winters that suffered summer-like conditions, where the snow melted faster than a skier racing downhill.

The brutally cold weather has resulted in some skiers changing out their skis after every run — skis are destroyed when snow adheres to the base, turning into sharp snow crystals. Some athletes worry that the the freezing cold air is causing damage to their airways and have resorted to training indoors.

What about the opening ceremony? Olympic organizers are taking no chances, after a recent concert held in the 35,000 seat PyeongChang Olympic Stadium left six people with hypothermia, preparations are being made to keep everyone warm. The ceremony will be shortened from it’s usual 4-hour procession to 2-hours. Team USA, will walk out onto the floor in exclusive battery charging heated jackets; and spectators will be handed hats, blankets, and seat warmers.

From the warmth and comfort of your home, you can do more than tune into NBC tomorrow 8PM EST, battle winter emergencies with confidence, prepare with the Premium Family 4 Person Emergency Kit.
