During a traumatic event such as a natural or man-made disaster, people will react differently and can cause a lot of stress and fear. Some situations may cause people to go into shock or cardiac arrest.

It is important to know how to recognize these signs so you can quickly get help and hopefully save a life. Here’s what you need to know.

Signs of a Heart Attack
There are many signs of a heart attack, and men and women may experience them differently. Most men do feel chest pain, but they may also feel pain in the back, jaw, and especially the right arm. Here are the signs:

  • Loss of Vision
  • Extreme Pain in Right Arm
  • Headache
  • Abdominal Pain

Abdominal pain is so often dismissed as heartburn, or the need to expel something from the body — which is why many men are found in the bathroom after having suffered a heart attack.

If you know someone has a heart condition, please keep it in mind when preparing for disasters. They are more likely to have a heart attack due to stress and fear.
